Launch badge

Also called featured badge, launch platform badge or embed badge.

A launch badge is a small image a maker places on their own site to show the product launched or ranked on a platform. It links back to the product's page on that platform.

What a badge does

For visitors, it is social proof: other people found the product worth a look. For the platform, it is a link from the maker's site. For the maker, it can unlock something in return. Many platforms make a dofollow link or a featured spot conditional on the badge.

Where the badge should link

The best badges link to the product's own page on the platform, not to the platform's homepage. That way the link describes the product, visitors who click see the listing, and the listing page gains the signals. The image's alt text acts as anchor text, so it should name the product.

The Aback Launch badge

Founders copy a badge snippet that links to their own launch page. Once the badge is found on their site, the website link on their listing becomes dofollow. A weekly check confirms the badge is still there. If it disappears, the link returns to nofollow, and a listing whose badge stays missing past the grace period is removed.

Badges and SEO

A badge link is a link from your site to the platform. It does not hurt your rankings, but it is worth placing deliberately: one badge in the footer or on an about page is normal, while dozens of badges from link exchanges across your homepage look like a link scheme. Choose the platforms that matter to your users and drop the rest.

Make sure the badge image has explicit width and height so it does not shift your layout, and loads lazily if it sits below the fold.

Questions people ask

Where should I place a launch badge?
In the footer or on an about or press page is common. It must be on a page that is crawlable, ideally linked from your homepage.
