Active Recalling
Turn your notes into flashcards, quizzes, and mind maps
About Active Recalling
Active Recalling is a study app built on two of the best-supported findings in learning science: testing yourself beats rereading, and spacing reviews out beats cramming.
How it works
Add a chapter from a PDF, a Word document, photos of your notes, pasted text, or a webpage link. Active Recalling writes study material from it:
- Flashcards you can flip, edit, and review on a spaced schedule set by the FSRS algorithm
- Four-option practice quizzes to test yourself on each chapter
- An interactive mind map that connects the topics in the chapter
- Feynman practice: explain a chapter out loud; the app transcribes what you said, compares it with your notes, and shows what you missed
Folders hold chapters, every card and question is editable, and you can share a folder or chapter with a classmate by email.
Who it is for
Students and lifelong learners who want to spend their time studying instead of writing flashcards by hand.
Pricing
It runs in any desktop or mobile browser. The free plan includes one folder with up to two chapters, every study format, and one Feynman attempt per chapter. Pro costs $3.99 a month for unlimited folders, chapters, and Feynman practice.
