How platforms count votes
Most platforms do not just count raw votes. They weigh them by the voter's history, discount new accounts, look at timing and remove votes that look coordinated. Some combine votes with comments and time since posting. The exact formulas are secret, to make gaming harder.
What not to do
Buying votes, trading votes in groups and sending people a direct link with "please upvote" all break the rules of most platforms. Penalties range from removed votes to a hidden launch. More importantly, they bring votes without users: the ranking goes up, nobody signs up.
How votes work on Aback Launch
Launches go live each Friday at 00:00 UTC and race through the ISO week. Votes from signed in members rank the board. When the week closes, the ranking is frozen and the top three are recorded as that week's winners. Paying never adds votes, and votes only decide placement, never the type of link a listing gets.
Earning votes honestly
Tell your existing users and followers that you are launching, and ask them to take a look and share what they think. People who already use the product write the best comments, and comments make a launch look alive to everyone else who visits. Reply to every comment quickly, especially in the first hours, when ranking momentum is built.
Example
A launch with 40 upvotes from engaged members who commented and tried the product outranks one with 60 votes from new accounts created that morning.
