Press kit

Also called media kit.

A press kit is a page or download with everything a journalist, blogger or directory needs to write about a product: a description, the logo, screenshots, founder details and contact information.

What goes in it

A one-line pitch and a short and a long description. The logo in light and dark versions, as PNG and SVG. Screenshots and a short video. The founders' names, photos and a line about each. Key facts: launch date, pricing, location. A contact email that someone reads.

Why it helps a launch

People who write about products are short of time. A press kit lets them get the name, the description and a correct logo without emailing you, which makes them more likely to write and less likely to get details wrong. Directories and launch platforms ask for the same assets, so a press kit also speeds up every submission.

Where to put it

On your own site, at a short address such as /press, linked from the footer. Keep it current: an old logo or pricing in a press kit spreads into every article that uses it.

Press kits and launch platforms

Every launch platform and directory asks for the same things: a tagline, a description, a logo, screenshots. Keeping them in one press kit means each submission takes minutes and every listing shows the same, current assets. It also keeps your descriptions consistent across the web, which helps search engines and AI assistants describe the product correctly.

Example

A startup's /press page offers its tagline, a 100 word description, logo files, five screenshots and the founder's photo, and three newsletters use it in launch week.

Questions people ask

Does a small startup need a press kit?
A simple one, yes: it takes an hour and saves time on every directory submission and every person who writes about the launch.
Should a press kit be a page or a download?
A page with the text visible and files to download works best: people can copy the text and grab only the files they need.
