How to use the x launch thread generator

  1. 1

    Describe the product

Name, what it does, who it is for, why you built it and any launch offer.

  2. 2

    Get the tweet and thread

One launch post and a thread: the build, the problem, the product and the link.

  3. 3

    Edit and post

Add a screenshot or GIF to the first post, check each post's length, and post once the launch is live.

Launch posts on X

A post on X can be up to 280 characters, and X counts every link as 23 characters and most emoji as two. A launch thread works because it tells a story: what you built, the problem you had, what the product does, and where to try it. Lead with the problem or the result, not with "I am excited to announce".

Make it work on the day

Attach a screenshot or a short GIF of the main job to the first post; a post with an image takes much more space in a feed. Post when your launch is live, keep one link and one ask, and reply to everyone who answers. Check the link preview first, since X shows your page's card when there is no image attached.

Questions

How many characters can a post on X have?

280 for standard accounts. Links count as 23 characters each and most emoji as two.

Should a launch be a single post or a thread?

Both work. A single post with an image is quick to read; a thread tells the story for people who want it. The generator writes both.

Where should the link go?

In the first post if you want clicks, or in the last post of a thread if the story comes first. Tag it with UTM parameters either way.

Is anything I type sent anywhere?

No. The posts are written in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
