What domain authority means

Domain authority scores like Ahrefs' Domain Rating (DR) estimate how strong a site's backlink profile is, on a 0 to 100 scale. They are third-party metrics, not Google's, but they are a useful shorthand when comparing sites or judging a link.

This checker shows public signals you can trust: the Tranco rank (a research list of the most popular domains, built from several traffic sources), the domain's age from the registry, and whether HTTPS and email are set up. For the DR number itself, it links straight to Ahrefs' free checker.

Questions

Why not show the DR number here?

Ahrefs does not offer DR through a free public API, and copying it from their site would break their terms. The link opens their free checker with your domain filled in.

What is the Tranco rank?

A ranking of the top million domains, built by researchers from several popularity lists and averaged over 30 days. Lower is more popular.

My domain has no rank. Is that bad?

No. Only the top million or so domains are ranked; most new sites are not on the list yet.

Does domain age matter for SEO?

Not directly. Older domains tend to have more links, which is what matters.
