Why convert HTML to Markdown
Markdown is plain text with light formatting: # for headings, - for lists, [text](url) for links. It is easy to edit, diff and paste into docs, and it is far shorter than HTML, which makes it the format language models read best.
This converter keeps the structure (headings, paragraphs, lists, links, images, emphasis, code and simple tables) and removes what a reader does not need: scripts, styles, SVG, forms and hidden elements.
Questions
Is my HTML uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser.
Does it convert a live web page?
Use the web page to Markdown tool: paste a URL and it fetches and converts the page.
Are tables supported?
Simple tables become Markdown pipe tables. Complex merged cells are flattened.
What happens to relative links?
Give a base URL and relative links and images become absolute, so they work outside your site.
