Formatting is read from your clipboard when you paste; typing gives plain text.

Markdown

The Markdown appears here as you paste.

How to use the paste to Markdown

  1. 1

    Copy formatted text

From Docs, Word, Notion, email or any page.

  2. 2

    Paste into the box

The formatting is read from your clipboard.

  3. 3

    Copy the Markdown

Headings, bold, links, lists and tables are kept.

How it reads your clipboard

When you copy formatted text, your browser keeps an HTML version of it on the clipboard. This tool reads that HTML when you paste and converts it to Markdown, so headings, bold, italics, links, lists and tables survive. Plain text pastes stay as they are.

Questions

Why did my formatting disappear?

Some apps copy plain text only. Try copying again from the app's view rather than an editor in plain text mode.

Are images kept?

Images with web addresses become Markdown images; pasted image files are not uploaded.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in your browser.

Which Markdown flavour is produced?

GitHub Flavored Markdown, which also works in most docs tools, Notion, Obsidian and AI chats.
