The Product Hunt tagline limit

A Product Hunt tagline can be up to 60 characters. It sits under your product name on the homepage, in the daily leaderboard, in search and in the newsletter, so for most visitors it is the only description they read before deciding to click.

How to write a Product Hunt tagline

Say what the product does and for whom, in plain words. Skip superlatives, and leave out the product name, which is already shown next to the tagline. Lead with the outcome ("Invoices that write themselves") rather than the category ("An AI invoicing platform").

Questions

What is the Product Hunt tagline character limit?

60 characters. Product Hunt stops you typing past 60 in the launch form.

Should the tagline include my product name?

No. The name is shown right next to it, so repeating it wastes a third of the space.

Can I change the tagline after launch?

Yes, makers can edit it from the product page, but the launch-day version is what voters and the newsletter see.

Do spaces and emoji count?

Spaces and punctuation count as one character each. This checker counts each visible character once, so an emoji counts as one.

Is my text stored or sent anywhere?

No. The counting happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
